Abstract

Background and Objectives: The purpose of the current research is to design and develop a measurement tool in order to select a field and educational guidance of talented students in the field of mathematics and physics. Methods: In this research, the framework of the mixed approach was used in two qualitative and quantitative stages. In the qualitative phase, by using the grounded theory method, the effective indicators and components in the field selection and educational guidance of gifted students in the field of mathematics and physics were determined, and then based on the findings of the qualitative section, the assessment tool for students with aptitude for mathematics and physics was developed to select the field and educational guidance, and its reliability and validity were investigated by means of quantitative sequential confirmatory factor analysis. In order to collect data in the qualitative part of the research, in-depth interviews were used in the form of general and semi-structured guidance, and data analysis was done in line with the design of the qualitative research model according to the Strauss and Corbin method. Using the purposeful and snowball sampling method, after interviewing 23 students, 18 students, 19 teachers, 13 consultants, 16 university lecturers and 15 graduates of basic science and engineering fields, the results reached the saturation stage.
