• This article examines the role of problem solving in mathematics learning and shows that problem solving is not only an educational goal, but also an essential tool for deep and sustained learning of mathematical concepts. The present study, by reviewing the research literature, examined the role of problem solving, especially modeling problems, in mathematics learning. The findings show that problem solving leads to a deeper understanding of concepts, the development of higher-order thinking skills. Also, the quality of problem design, the role of the teacher in guiding the problem-solving process, and the importance of diverse approaches in teaching problem solving are emphasized. The approach proposed by Stacey (2024) is designed with the focus on teaching mathematical concepts through problem solving and the aim of developing problem-solving skills. This framework provides systematic strategies for integrating problem solving into the curriculum, which include a range of short-term activities (such as daily exercises) to long-term, multi-stage projects. The results show that implementing this approach requires changes in teaching methods, professional development of teachers, and reform of the evaluation system.
