Financial education in Iranian mathematics textbooks

Abstract

Background and Objectives: In this research, the importance of paying attention to financial literacy education in mathematics textbooks of all academic courses is discussed, followed by the complications of lack of financial literacy in the society. Methods: The statistical population of this research was the math books of all grades in the academic year of 1402-1403, which were analyzed by the method of content analysis of math books in terms of financial issues. Findings: The lack of planning necessary to improve and create financial literacy decision-making ability has caused economic problems in their future careers. Conclusion: The results show that most of the concentration of mathematical expression in economic topics is seen in humanities mathematics books, also financial literacy has not been properly considered compared to economic literacy. It is suggested that financial literacy in daily life should be presented to students through practical examples in mathematics books , which leads to the improvement of students' financial literacy.
