Abstract
Background and Objectives: In mathematics education, the Van Hiele model is a theory that describes how students learn geometry. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of software-based e-learning on improving students’ skills regarding geometrics and geometry levels of Van levels of Van Hiele. Methods: This study is an applied one in terms of methods and materials; it is performed over a quantitative group of students. At the end of sessions, a test designed based on Van Hiele geometry levels is taken from two study and control groups. Findings: Statistical analysis of the data gathered during this study shows that GeoGebra software has an effect on improving the levels of Van Hiele geometric thinking of students and their ability to learn corresponding geometry lessons. It can be concluded that teaching mathematics with the aid of software (e.g., GeoGebra) can enhance the geometric visualization and levels of Van Hiele geometric thinking of the students and positively affect their desire and motivation to learn mathematics lessons. Conclusion: In addition to the obvious benefits of student participation in problem solving, it also increases students' motivation, sense of effectiveness, and self-confidence.
